CHANGES TO MEDICARE PART D AND ELIQUIS PRICING

The Inflation Reduction Act was passed into law in 2022 and includes changes to Medicare Part D, or prescription drug coverage.

In 2026, Medicare will use a new government-set price for ELIQUIS, called the “Maximum Fair Price” (MFP). This is what the government will pay for ELIQUIS.

The new Medicare pricing does not set what Medicare patients will pay for ELIQUIS now or in the future; that amount is determined by your prescription insurance plan.

Separately, beginning in 2025, if you have Medicare Part D coverage, your maximum out-of-pocket costs for all your prescriptions, including ELIQUIS, will be $2,000 per year, down from approximately $3,300 in 2024. Once you reach $2,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, your medications will not cost you anything for the remainder of the year. A new payment plan option will also be available, along with the removal of the coverage gap (donut hole). The out-of-pocket cost cap will increase in subsequent years, based on inflation.

2025 Medicare Open Enrollment is October 15th to December 7th, 2024.
